We wish to travel with a hired car from Boston on 6 to Niagara Falls?

and from Niagara Falls return on 8 October to catch a flight from Boston to Europe. As it is a long holiday for both countries how long can one estimate the time travelling to and from. Are there congestions on the road. Normally how long a drive is it?

It’s about 7 hours on Interstate 90. The worst traffic will be in Boston - after that it should be clear sailing as there are no major cities the rest of the way. The 8th is a holiday in Canada (Thanksgiving Day), but in the US it’s Columbus Day which isn’t widely observed (federal gov’t only, I think).
Tip: If your plan to cross to the Canadian side you should check with the car rental agency first. Some rental agreements prohibit operation outside of the US.

like someone else said, boston will be the worst for traffic. You can expect anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour at the bridge. check out the niagara falls bridge commission for border wait times.

watch out for the New York State troopers as long as you do the flow of traffic speed you’ll be OK

have a nice trip - the fall colours will be showing then on the trees
