Statistically Speaking, what is the least busy day of the week for air travel, obviously excluding holidays?

On top of the least busy day of the week, I wonder what the least busy time of day is. For example, I would think that a flight that leaves around 2pm would be less busy than one that leaves out at 10am to the same destination. I would also assume that Fridays and Sundays are the worst time to fly. I’m most interested in U.S. stats.

Usually it is cheaper and less busy to fly on Tuesday to Thursday.

Generally, airlines offer the lowest fares for mid-week travel (Tuesday to Thursday) because those are the least busy days. Monday mornings and Friday afternoons are the busiest times. However, not all routes are the same and seasonal variations occur.

Try to use airline and travel sites that allow you to search +/- one or more days to check for the best fares.
