I’d like to get a sense of when airlines offer the best prices and itineraries for
holiday travel. I’m traveling from MSP to Cabo over
New Year’s week 08-09, and right now the prices and itineraries are terrible. When is the
best time to book at low prices with lots of options? This destination normally costs me $350-$500, and a quick search today came up with $800+ per person. WTH?

On top of the least busy day of the week, I wonder what the least busy time of day is. For example, I would think that a flight that leaves around 2pm would be less busy than one that leaves out at 10am to the same destination. I would also assume that Fridays and Sundays are the
worst time to fly. I’m
most interested in U.S. stats.
